This exciting design was the result of a fun and interesting collaboration with our client, Davis Developments of Edmonton, Alberta.  Our precedent research program unveiled an interest in unique shapes that break out of the traditional box that is neighbourhood retail, resulting in a dynamic sweeping angled parapet fronted with a faux-wood structure, backing on more traditional retail forms.  From a technical perspective, this was a challenging project.  As a previously contaminated site, reclamation resulted in unstable subgrades for portions of the site.  A unique structural main floor slab was utilized to bridge these substandard soils, with extensive coordination of building and tenant services required.
