A six storey wood frame apartment building near the Bonnie Doon Mall in Edmonton, this development provides 44 units of apartment housing on Whyte Avenue. Working with a small site, setbacks were reduced to a minimum respecting existing tree root balls and location of neighbouring apartment buildings. Following a clean “art deco” motif, the building steps back at upper floor corners to reduce perceived massing and sunshadow impacts. 2 levels of underground parking are provided, lining up with the building face on 2 sides to reduce shoring and plaza deck costs.
